An Update on Lighthouse 2020

News Article

28th March, 2020

All of us at Lighthouse Great Missenden pray that you are coping as well as possible during these challenging times as we all learn a new way of life, finding support and encouragement from family, friends, church and community.

We have been carefully monitoring events as they unfold and responding to the advice of the government. The well-being of children and our volunteers being our absolute priority.

Therefore it is with deep regret that we have taken the very hard decision that we will NOT meet on the Buryfield for Lighthouse Great Missenden this year. What is very exciting however is Lighthouse Central, an organisation set up to start new Lighthouses and support existing Lighthouses with resources, are working on something called "Virtually Lighthouse". This will be an online programme to run during Lighthouse week with mainstage presenting, songs and actions, craft activities, bible stories, online interactive discovery sessions, downloadable work sheets, some sport/exercise ideas, puppet skits and more! We at Lighthouse Great Missenden will be supporting Lighthouse Central with this and they will keep everyone updated as they progress. We will still need volunteers to be involved so if you have registered to help we will keep you on the database and will give you more information on ways to get involved as soon as we can.

There are also plans to have a Lighthouse Celebration event late in the summer holidays but this does depend on many factors, all currently unknown - so watch this space!

Please keep yourselves and your families safe and stay strong, we hope to see you all again as soon as we can.

With love and blessings

God bless
Emma Law - Chair of Lighthouse Great Missenden
