Lighthouse is run by an army of volunteer helpers, about 800 of them last year!
If you are an existing helper then a very big thank you to you, hope to see you back in 2011.
If you want to get involved but are not sure what roles there are in Lighthouse, here's a brief selection:
Lighthouse Keepers - responsible for a group (Lightouse) of children, all the same age. Lighthouses are typically between 10 - 20 children, depending on age.
Lamplighters - often younger helpers who work for a Lighthouse Keeper, and help look after the children. There's normally 2 - 4 Lamplighters in each Lighthouse.
Craft - helping to set up the daily craft activities, and overseeing one or more craft activity in each session
Games - running a variety of sport and games activities so the children can let off steam on the games field
Music - Lighthouse has two talented bands, and is always looking for new talent to join the team
Security - the Lighthoue site has a 24 hour security team that operates from the time the site is set up until breakdown
First Aid - the team is often called on to deal with cuts, headaches and other ailments
Comforts - all helpers need a rest, and the comforts helpers provide tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits throughout the day
Cafe - Lighthouse runs a cafe for parents to drop in and spend some time in a relaxed atmosphere
